Solar energy is a promising solution to meet the demand for rural households’ electricity services in remote locations.
Table 9 presents the list of the power plants in Rwanda and their main characteristics (information provided by the Rwanda Energy Group - REG). These power plants include the Rusumo Regional Hydropower Project (90 MW), which is planned to begin operations in 2021, and the Nyundo Hydropower Plant (4.5 MW) which is scheduled for commissioning in 2022.
